South Pacific Oil Limited is one of the largest Corporate Organizations in the Solomon Islands. It imports and sells petroleum products: unleaded petrol, Automotive Diesel, Jet A1 fuels and a large range of automotive, marine and industrial lubricants. It is 100% owned by the people of the Solomon Islands through their contribution to the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund.

South Pacific Oil Limited is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the Position of; Inventory & Fixed Asset Reconciliation Officer

Summary of Key functions:

  • Reconcile fixed asset subsidiary ledgers to the GL monthly on a monthly basis
  • Resolve any resulting discrepancies discovered
  • Assist in ensuring that policies and procedures for fixed assets have been complied with from acquisition, recording, transfer and disposal
  • Prepare depreciation and other fixed asset-related entry adjustments.
  • Record transfer of plant and equipment, and updates the assets module with each transfer
  • Reconcile fixed assets register module with related fixed assets general ledger, and investigates any variances with relevant operational and accounting staff.
  • Record periodical and annual fixed assets physical review with various departments (verifying the existence of fixed assets) – Conduct physical verification of assets every 12months.
  • Coordinate, update, and maintain the asset register for new and existing capital and noncapital fixed assets including asset register identification tagging, location identification, physical count, and asset owners.
  • Reconcile Capital Work in Progress (WIP) and transfer to asset register upon completion of projects (including following up on project completion report).

  • Proficient in Micro-Office suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates negotiation, conflict management and analytical skills.

Qualification and Experiences:

Minimum qualification Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and or Business Management or equivalent. At least 3 years’ experience in managing fixed assets and inventory reconciliations in large corporate organizations. Demonstrates knowledge in finance and accounting procedure, knowledge in fixed assets and inventory management processes and procedures. Has proficient in data entry and management. Good knowledge with relevant accounting software applications (SAP). Must have a valid driving licence.
