Employment: 2-year employment agreement with possible extension
Reports to: Child Protection Advisor, Sydney, ChildFund Australia
Other Information: Must have working rights in Solomon Islands. This role is contracted through Pasifiki HR

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting and coordinating partner-led programs that focus on child protection system strengthening including strengthening GBV and VAC crisis response services and the online environment for children and young people. Your role will liaise closely with ChildFund Australia Technical Advisors (TAs), ChildFund New Zealand SI Country Team, implementing partners and key project stakeholders. You will report to the Child Protection Advisor, ChildFund Australia.

KEY DUTIES

  • Represent ChildFund Australia in strategic country-level relationships.
  • Support partners to strengthen their organisational and staff capacity, through the development and implementation of a tailored capacity strengthening plan, providing support, mentoring and coordination.
  • Participate in all work, implementation, and budget planning for each project together with the CFA Technical Advisors, and team members from implementing partners.
  • Support partner narrative and financial reporting, ensuring reports are of high standard and update progress against the workplan and budget, identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate partnership procedures including engagement of new partners, due diligence processes, project inception activities, reflection meetings and ongoing relationship building.
  • Conduct regular meetings with partners' project teams for ongoing oversight and project management support as needed.
  • Act as a coordination point between ChildFund projects and identify gaps, linkages and opportunities
  • Coordination of advocacy initiatives and programming in the Pacific with other child focused INGOs and CSOs.
  • Support implementing partners’ management of their compliance to relevant child protection and safeguarding policies, financial and procurement guidelines, and audit requirements.
  • Promote and integrate gender equality, disability, and social inclusion into day-to-day work.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field (e.g. Child protection, social work, social policy, social sciences, community development, or international aid and development).
  • Experience in a senior program or project management capacity in the development sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful stakeholder coordination at the project level, external networking, and experience in developing strategic partnerships.
  • Experience working with various stakeholders and effectively coordinating between them.
  • Knowledge of child rights and the context of violence against women and children in the Solomon Islands.
  • Good understanding of financial management and working with donor compliance frameworks.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in the gender-based violence or child protection sector is highly valued.
  • Experience in mentoring, capacity building or training for staff (or volunteers) is highly valued.

SKILLS

  • Passionate and enthusiastic about child and youth rights and development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in English and Solomon Pijin).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage programs and partnerships
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proficient use of online collaboration tools (Teams and SharePoint or similar)
