World Vision Solomon Islands invites applications from interested and qualified candidates for the position of:
i) Community Development Facilitator x2 – To be based in Lata, Temotu Province
ii) Community Development Facilitator x2 – To be based in Bellona, RenBel Province
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The El nino project is a component of an existing project “Building inclusive and resilient communities in the Solomon Islands” funded by USAID and implemented by World Vision in Guadalcanal (Weather Coast) and Temotu. The project started on 1st July, 2022 and will end in 30th June 2025. The El Niño component of the project aimed at strengthening community and household resilience in the face of climate impacts, including El Niño, through providing agriculture training, awareness, and improvement of WASH facilities. The project will be implemented in Temotu and Renbel Province, the two provinces identified by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service as most impacted by El Niño.
World Vision Solomon Islands is looking for a qualified and experienced candidate to fill the role of Community Development Facilitator for the El Niño projects in Temotu and Bellona. The key purpose of the CDF position is to organize and mobilize the target community to ensure sustainable impact and ownership of project interventions. The CDF will be responsible for implementing the project activities and collecting data and information from the communities necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. The position will be based in Temotu and Renbel Area Programs with 75% of the time spent in communities.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years' experience in development interventions and working with communities.
- Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor in Community Development Studies, Environmental Science, Science or Climate Change related studies.
- Computer skills.
- Understanding poverty and community empowerment approaches to development.
- Good communication skills (and local knowledge).
- English language skills (reading and writing) Problem-solving skills.
- Knowledgeable in Disaster Risk Reduction.
- Data collection in community settings.
- Conflict Mitigation and Negotiation skills.
- Rural participatory Appraisal skills and mobilizing skills.
- Ability to work in and across diverse cultures.
- Networking skills.
- Resource mobilizing skills.
- Willingness to work in partner communities and stay in communities for prolong periods of time.
