Position: 2 X Provincial Climate Change Coordinators for Guadalcanal and Malaita Provinces
Organization: Solomon Islands National Youth Congress
Location: Guadalcanal and Malaita Provinces
Contract Duration: 12 months (with the possibility of extension)
Start Date: 29th July, 2024
Background:
The Solomon Islands National Youth Congress (SINYC) is a Charitable Organization responsible for implementing the Solomon Islands National Youth Policy and Strategic Framework for Youth Development. SINYC plays a crucial role in representing the interests, views, and aspirations of young men and women to the government and other stakeholders. As part of our commitment to addressing climate change issues, we are engaging in Youth Economic and Climate Action Project (YECA) and are seeking two qualified and motivated individuals to fill the position of Provincial Climate Change Coordinators for Guadalcanal and Malaita Provinces.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Provincial Climate Change Coordinators will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and coordinating the progress of YECA activities in communities identified in the respective Provinces. Key duties include:
- Providing technical advice and guidance for the planning and implementation of YECA climate change activities.
- Assisting in planning and budgeting of annual and quarterly activities.
- Facilitating and conducting trainings for capacity-building, program learning and meetings for community youth groups.
- Establishing youth community associations and providing guidance for youth community development.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in environment, climate change, agriculture, economy, management, social sciences, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience, with a focus on climate change, development, natural disasters, and humanitarian work.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting and post-conflict reconstruction situations.
- Strong networking and partnership-building skills.
- Proficient in project or program management tools and administration.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, etc.

Conditions of Employment:
Preference will be given to candidates who are able to relocate to the respective provinces for the duration of the employment. Once the application is successful, the Solomon Islands National Youth Congress (SINYC) will require the successful candidate to provide both police clearance and medical clearance.
