Solomon Islands Planned Parenthood Association was founded over 40 years ago with the vision of seeing a community where women, men, and particularly young people can access comprehensive services that meet their unmet needs in sexual and reproductive health. Where sexuality is recognized as both a natural and precious aspect of life and a fundamental human right, and in which choices are fully respected and whereby stigma and discrimination have no place. SIPPA is a non-government organization (NGO) working across five provinces in the country with 100 plus volunteers in the communities. SIPPA is affiliated with the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

The Executive Director shall be responsible for the overall operations and management of the organization including building the core strategies and achieving results as per the organizations Strategic Plan. The Executive Director plays a critical role in achieving SIPPA`s mission by providing strategic leadership, overseeing the implementation of high-quality SRSH services, and advocating forSRHR at regional, national and community levels.

The Executive Director will be based in Honiara and has the ultimate responsibility of ensuring that the objectives of SIPPA are adhered to in all the activities of the clinical services and programmes. The Executive Director reports to the SIPPA Board and is responsible for all advocacy to stakeholders in the delivery of SRH in the Solomon Islandsand accountability to the donors.

Duties will include

  • Oversight and strategic management of SIPPA in Honiara and SRH services and programmes delivered in other provinces
  • Comprehensive reporting for SIPPA to the Board and implementation of Board recommendations
  • Structured advocacy to government and stakeholders to promote SRH and provide updates on progress
  • Regular communication with donors and/or programme implementers
  • Management of assets to ensure improvements to facilities and updating of equipment and other assets occurs in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that standards of practice for clinical and Programme staff are evaluated at least annually
  • Co-ordination of annual planning
  • At least annual visits to all programme sites to evaluate progress and discuss barriers

Experience and Education

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in a senior management role, ideally including NGOs in a service-related field managing multi-donor funded programmes.
  • high level budget & financial management skills
  • experience managing the complexities of infrastructure, communications and maintenance etc
  • demonstrated success managing a business, department or organisation with up to 50 staff including volunteers

This position is funded through the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
