Position: Cocoa Production Supervisor
Location: KPSI, Sun Valley Junction Lungga

Organization Environment
KPSI was formed in 2004 with the purpose of improving Village livelihood.
KPSI was formed in 2004 with the purpose of improving Village livelihood. KPSI is a private limited company. KPSI is primarily focused on the production and marketing of Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and cocoa and downstream products. These are produced by rural and regional families and communities of the Solomon Islands.

The Cocoa Production Supervisor is responsible for the weekly and month planning for production to meet forecast, and that production is done with the right equipment and tools.

This role is addressing the mission statement of; New Value Add products developed, increasing the demand for Cocoa Value-Add products, and Stewardship of our Resources - people and things.

This role addresses our key tasks of:

  1. Improving the manufacturing of Value-add products

Position Dimension:
The Cocoa Production Supervisor is accountable to the Product Manager, and responsible for the Cocoa production staff.

This role calls for adaptation, innovation, practical application, and commercial awareness to ensure that KPSI advances its KOSI brand, sales and marketing of cocoa in the domestic and international markets.

This role will need to liaise and interact across multiple roles and functions. Since this is a leadership role it will need to coordinate, collaborate, and communicate with the Product Manager, Cocoa Warehouse Supervisor and other team leaders to keep the daily operations running smoothly.

Primary Purpose of Role:
To ensure that the cocoa value-add products are in stock, and that production is the most efficient and effective as it can be.

Principal Responsibilities, Regulatory obligations, Reports & Problems solving

Principal Responsibilities.

  1. Supervising cocoa staff in the manufacturing and packaging of product to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
  2. Planning – including developing and maintaining a weekly production schedule to meet product and sales forecast demand.
  3. Maintaining the cocoa factory equipment & machinery.
  4. Responsible for Master Production Documents
  5. Liaises with the Cocoa Warehouse Supervisor to ensure required cocoa beans and materials are available as required for production.
  6. Maintains Good Manufacturing Practice and Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members.
  7. Recommend improvement of facilities, equipment, or procedure to improve safety, quality, and efficiency related to the production of cacao powder, cacao butter and cacao nibs.
  8. Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  9. Support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports KPSI’s Quality System & the appropriate regulations for the area.
  10. Help to identify significant environmental impact of production operations.
  11. Recommend and implement action plan to correct deviations noted during audits.

Essential & Desirable skills, knowledge & Experience

Must understand the processes and be able to manage the raw materials used in each product.
Good knowledge of the products and the manufacturing practices.

  1. Minimum Form six up to degree– preferably Science background
  2. Has a mechanical aptitude
  3. Enjoys Manual, hands-on work.
  4. Leadership skills & experience
  5. Strong team person
  6. Fits well with KPSI culture.

Remuneration
The Cocoa Production Supervisor will be paid a salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience but probably within the $30,000-$50,000 pa range as well as the normal benefits stated in the KPSI staff policy.
