Program Background
Australia Awards are prestigious, transformational scholarships and short courses offered to emerging leaders from developing countries for study, research and professional development in Australia and the region so they can return home and contribute to their nations’ development, prosperity, and resilience . Australia Awards Solomon Islands (AASI) is aligned with Australia's development assistance in Solomon Islands, targeting human resource gaps in priority sectors. Australia Awards aim to provide alumni with the skills and knowledge to drive change and influence economic and social development. AASI complements other Australian aid investments in Solomon Islands and aligns with the SINDS.
AASI is managed by DT Global on behalf of the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Under the Australia Solomon Islands Program Support (ASIPS) facility procurement and contract management support is provided to AASI.

The Role
The Australia Awards Solomon Islands Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning Officer (AASI-MERLO) contributes, alongside the AASI Team Leader (TL), Deputy Team Leader (DTL) and all program staff to the delivery and quality of services provided by AASI. This position will contribute to the implementation of services as set out in the Service Order and any amendments.

About You
To be successful in the role. You must have the following
- Qualifications in Social Science, Human Resource Management, Data Management, Project Management and/ or related disciplines. Previous work experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation required.
- proven exp erience developing MEL framework indicators and writing MEL reports
- high-level Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher skills
- excellent writing and communication skills in English and Solomon Islands Pidgin
- proven organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to priorities own workload, work effectively both independently and as part of a team and deliver quality outputs within agreed timeframes
- experience and knowledge, or ability to quickly develop, of DFAT strategies, systems, processes, and development program requirements.
- demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders (desirable).
- high degree of personal initiative, innovative, lateral thinking, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines (desirable).
- commitment to a capacity development approach, teamwork, and ability to build constructive and effective relationships (desirable)
