We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic team. This key position will play an integral role in recruiting top talent, supporting employee development, and ensuring the airline’s continued success. Every team member is essential to providing exceptional service and maintaining our reputation as the national carrier of Solomon Islands
Key tasks to be performed.
- Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
o Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
o Develop and maintain talent pipelines for critical positions.
o Collaborate with department heads to assess hiring needs and ensure strategic alignment.
- Employee Relations:
o Act as a point of contact for employees, addressing concerns, grievances, and conflicts in a professional and confidential manner.
o Foster a positive, inclusive work culture and manage employee engagement programs.
o Lead initiatives to improve communication and collaboration between staff and management.
- Performance Management:
o Implement and oversee the company’s performance management system, ensuring consistent and fair performance evaluations.
o Provide guidance to managers on setting performance expectations, offering feedback, and handling underperformance.
o Facilitate career development plans and succession planning.
- Compliance & Policy Development:
o Ensure compliance with all labor laws and employment standards at domestic and international (Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Pacific).
o Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks, ensuring they are up to date with legal and industry best practices.
o Conduct regular audits of HR practices to ensure legal compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Training & Development:
o Oversee the design and implementation of employee training and development programs that enhance employee skills, performance, and career growth.
o Identify training needs through performance evaluations, feedback, and strategic business objectives.
o Organize leadership development and soft skills training for management.
- Compensation & Benefits Management:
o Oversee the administration of employee benefits, including health, retirement, and leave programs.
o Collaborate with finance and management teams to ensure competitive and equitable compensation structures.
o Ensure compliance with benefits regulations and manage relationships with external benefits providers.
- HR Data & Reporting:
o Maintain accurate HR records and personnel files, ensuring data privacy and compliance.
o Generate regular reports on HR metrics, such as employee turnover, absenteeism, and training effectiveness.
o Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations for HR strategies.
- Employee Engagement & Retention:
o Develop strategies to improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
o Conduct regular employee surveys and organize initiatives based on feedback.
o Lead retention programs such as recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and team-building activities.
Skills required for the role.
o Strong knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices to include but not limited to Solomon Airlines network of operations.
o Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
o Ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
o Proficiency in HR software systems and tools
o Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Experience required for the role.
Minimum of 10 years of HR management experience, with a strong focus on employee relations, compliance, and talent management.
Qualification required.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional HR certification is preferred.
