Position Title: Customs Clearing and Costing Officer.
Department: New Vehicle Sales
Reports To: Manager Sales & Marketing – New Vehicles
Position Summary:
The Customs Clearing and Costing Officer is responsible for ensuring the efficient clearance of imported Vehicles through customs and accurately calculating the total costs associated with importing, including duties, taxes, and other charges. This role ensures compliance with customs regulations and maintains cost transparency for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Customs Clearance:
- Coordinate with customs agents, brokers, and authorities to ensure the timely clearance of goods.
- Prepare and submit all necessary customs documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Monitor shipment statuses and follow up with customs or relevant parties to address delays or issues.
- Ensure all imports comply with local laws, regulations, and duty requirements.
Costing:
- Calculate landed costs for all imported goods, including duties, taxes, freight, and other associated charges.
- Provide accurate costing data to the finance and procurement teams.
- Maintain and update records of all import transactions for cost-tracking purposes.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and import policies.
- Conduct periodic audits of customs clearance and costing processes to ensure compliance.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to ensure seamless operations.
- Liaise with internal departments such as procurement, finance, and operations to provide clarity on import costs.
Qualifications:
- Basic Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in customs clearance, logistics, or import/export processes.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations.
- Proficiency in using relevant software for documentation and costing.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for costing.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset to address clearance delays or costing discrepancies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for costing and reporting.
