Solomon Islands Airports Corporation Limited (SIACL) is a State (Government) owned enterprise which commenced operations in October 2023. The principal activity of the entity is to manage airports and services.
As part of our development plan, we are looking for a progressive and energetic individual to join our team as Fire Officer – Rescue Fire Service.
The Rescue Fire Service is an integral part of Airport operation, the position plays an important role in ensuring the continued safe and effective operation of the airport including emergency services, communications, airfield compliances activities, airside grounds maintenance, and administration.
Maintaining airport category is a priority.
The person we are looking for should meet the following requirements;
Qualifications & Experience.
- Certificate in any tertiary studies.
- Civil Aviation firefighting training courses and Certificates.
- Heavy Trades license Class 4 minimum.
- 1-5 years in Aviation Rescue fire and Emergency Operation or previous firefighting experience at airport, military or civilian fire brigade.
Skills and Knowledge.
- Proficiency as a driver and operator on all Fire and Emergency Rescue appliances and equipment.
- Ability to quickly adapt and familiarize oneself with the operational areas/location and the Airport installations.
- Operational knowledge of controlling and servicing of the Fire and Emergency equipment.
- Ability to carry out other airfield operational, maintenance and compliance related tasks.
- Understanding and adherence to all SIACL safety policies, rules and safe work practices.
- Can respond effectively to all emergencies and incidents with possibility to save lives and property.
- Sound knowledge of Civil Aviation Rule, especially Part 139.
- Familiar with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 14 and associated Standards and Recommended Practices.
- Ability to comply with all regulations and procedures circulated in the Operations Manuals, and any other instructions given.
- Can comply with all Airport Security requirements contained in the Civil Aviation Rules and or legislation.
Key Competencies.
- Must be prepared to be available for recall duty, work extra hours or 24/7 in shifts and during odd hours.
- Able to demonstrate high level of work attendance.
- Sound knowledge on operating the fire and rescue equipment.
- Heavy Trades license Class 4 minimum.
- First Aid certificate.

- Sound written and verbal communications skills
- Work cooperatively with Airport Rescue Firefighting Service Manager.
- Disciplined, motivated and focus on delivering emergency service outcomes to a highly professional standard.
- Maintaining physical and medical fitness.
