An Exciting and Challenging Opportunity! Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited the Leading Agricultural Business in the Solomon Islands is looking for: FIELD SUPERVISOR - SMALL HOLDER AFFAIRS

We are currently looking for a passionate and motivated individual for the position of Field Supervisor to run the Affairs of Small Holder. The overall responsibility is to oversee and coordinating harvesting and upkeep operations for Small Holders. This role involves supervising field operations, ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations, and implementing best practices to maximize crop yields and ensure sustainable farming practices.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Responsible to manage the Harvesting operations in all 4 small holder zones effectively
• Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of smallholder farmers in area such as crop management, sustainable farming practise and basic financial literacy.
• Ensuring that agricultural or development programs aimed at smallholder farmers are effectively executed and aligned with organizational objectives.
• Collecting and analyzing data related to farmer productivity, program effectiveness, and impact, and using this information to improve future initiatives.
• Assist small holders in monitoring crop health and growth, and identify issues such as pest infestations, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Ensure that field activities are conducted according to agronomic best practices and company standards.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate small holders, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and performance standards.
• Report findings and provide recommendations for improvements to management.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks associated with fieldwork.
• Conduct & document SHEQ Inspection in support of those conducted by Manager - Small holders & sustainability.
• Assist small holder Manager to conduct and document OHS activities such as meetings, development & monitoring of Improvement plans to address issues identified.
• Effectively liaising with the Transport department during crop pick up.

Essential Qualification and Job Requirements:

• Preferably Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, biology or science base or any related fields
• This position requires working primarily in outdoor environments and may involve physical activity, including lifting and standing for extended periods
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing workload and prioritizing tasks
• Accurate data entry skills
• Ability to build good relationships with suppliers and internal team
• Ability to priorities and multitask
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability work as part of a broader team
