Job Title: IT Lead
Islands Knowledge Institute (IKI)
Islands Knowledge Institute (IKI) is a Solomon Islands based organization dedicated to promoting Indigenous knowledge, community-driven development, and sustainable resource management. Through its initiatives, IKI works closely with local communities to strengthen cultural preservation, improve livelihoods, and support education and conservation efforts across the islands. The organization is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Lead to join its team and support the delivery of digital innovation and technology services across the Sky Islands Consortia.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT systems management, including networking, software, and security
- Experience in website development and maintenance (e.g., WordPress, Joomla)
- Knowledge of cloud systems such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
- Understanding of data security, backup systems, and risk management
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience working in rural or remote community settings
- Familiarity with AI tools and platforms
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
- Understanding of digital inclusion and capacity building in Pacific or similar contexts
Responsibilities:
- Manage IT hardware, software, networking, and secure data backup systems
- Maintain and update IKI and partner websites, ensuring security and accessibility
- Oversee internet and LAN/Wi-Fi systems for IKI and partner sites
- Implement and monitor IT security protocols, conduct audits, and ensure compliance
- Support digital communication platforms, virtual meetings, and collaboration tools
- Lead innovation initiatives, including responsible integration of AI tools
- Provide IT training and troubleshooting for staff and community partners
- Develop strategic IT plans, budgets, and identify digital transformation opportunities
