A course leader is responsible for course planning, delivery of training, conducting students’ assessments, assessment reporting and evaluation, development of learning materials; curriculum review, review of teaching plans and instruments and course evaluation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching that meets curriculum standards and caters to diverse learning needs.
- Create a safe, respectful, and motivating learning environment with high standards for behaviour and safety.
- Develop and use effective teaching resources, including new technologies, to enhance learning.
- Conduct fair and accurate assessments, maintain academic records, and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Mentor and support students’ progress, identifying and addressing barriers to learning.
- Work collaboratively with teaching teams, industry stakeholders, and support services to improve learning outcomes.
- Promote professional values and help students connect learning to real-world employment and community impact.
- Support access to learning services, student counselling, and career guidance.
- Maintain health and safety standards across all training environments.
Key Deliverables
- Deliver competency-based training in Certificate III/IV Plumbing and Water Services.
- Develop lesson plans, assessments, and training materials aligned with national qualifications.
- Provide regular feedback and mentoring to support student achievement.
- Engage with industry partners and apprenticeship networks to support student pathways.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Plumbing, Allied Trades, or Water Services with an Industry Proficiency Certificate.
- Certificate III or IV in International Skills Training (IST), International Training and Assessment (ITAC), or ALTP.
- At least 5 years of industry experience and 3 years of teaching experience.
- Competency in computer applications such as word processing, email, internet, and spreadsheets.

Remuneration and Benefits
- Annual Salary: $ 69,099.28- $92,911.31
- Annual Leave Entitlement:20 Working days
- Annual Gratuity: 15% of Annual Basic Salary
- Housing : 15% housing allowance of basic salary or rental entitlements under the University Policy.
- Other Terms and Conditions of Service relevant to this position: As per Contract and SINU Policy.
Terms and Conditions
This is a full-time position with a contract term of five years, renewable based on performance and mutual agreement.
