3. Key tasks to be performed.
Overview of the position
Chung Wah School is committed to delivering a high standard of secondary education in the country. As a result, expectations of teachers’ performance are set at a very high level.

  • Punctuality: Staff are expected to arrive on time, as absences or lateness can disrupt classes and affect student learning.
  • High Performance Culture: The school emphasizes excellence, teamwork, and flexibility. All staff members are encouraged to collaborate and support one another in achieving shared goals.
  • Language Policy: English is the primary language of communication among staff and students. The only exception is during non-English language classes, such as Chinese.

Major Duties may include the following areas:

  1. Preparing and Teaching:
    The teacher is responsible for delivering subject content within the Secondary Curriculum, ensuring lessons are well-prepared and aligned with the approved syllabus. Key duties include developing lesson plans, schemes of work, term programs, assessments, and teaching aids; administering tests and examinations; and monitoring student progress. The role also requires motivating students through engaging and imaginative teaching methods, while staying up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the school curriculum.
  2. Supervision, Organization and Administration:
    Teachers are responsible for maintaining accurate lesson and class attendance records, supervising school-organized activities, and ensuring pupil discipline. They must organize classrooms and learning resources to foster a positive learning environment, keep individual student work and profiles up to date, and maintain accurate administrative records. The role also includes active participation in school-based in-service programs and staff meetings.
  3. Assigned extra-curricular duties and activities approved by the Principal:
    Teachers are expected to supervise school sports, clubs, and playground duties on a rostered basis. They may also accompany students to activities held outside the school, ensuring proper supervision and support during all extra-curricular programs approved by the Principal.
  4. Reporting:
    You are expected and required to report to the Principal and to the parents on students’ academic progress. It is under your responsibility.
  5. Internal and external work relationship:
    Teachers are expected to lead students with integrity, respect the rights and beliefs of all staff, and uphold the Administrative Instruction 6 for Teachers and School leaders. They must maintain high standards of conduct, dress, and cooperation with colleagues, administration, and the school board to safeguard facilities and ensure effective programs. Teachers should accept feedback, address weaknesses, and work flexibly to support colleagues, including covering classes when needed. As professionals, they are also responsible for fostering positive relationships between the school and the wider community.

Skills required for the role.

  • Ability to demonstrate and track record of continued professional development.
  • Commitment to student success and well-being.
  • Classroom and resource management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Computer Literate; be familiar with Microsoft, excel, PowerPoint presentation or software applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Capacity to supervise students in non-classroom settings and able to lead an after-school activity or extracurricular activities.
  • Skill to work independently and also a good team player.
  • Be creative and innovative enabling students to think outside the box.

Experience required for the role.

  • At least five (5) years experienced in the field of teaching Secondary Agriculture and Science (combination).

Qualification required.

  • Recognized University Degree Certification in Teaching Secondary Agriculture and Science combination.
  • Valid Teacher Registration Certificate as required by Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development under the Education Act 2023.
