Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (“SIRUF”) is the governing body for Rugby in Solomon Islands. SIRUF is a full member of World Rugby and Oceania Rugby. SIRUF administer rugby for the 9 affiliated unions across the 9 provinces. We are a passionate rugby organisation dedicated to growing the development of the game, supporting players, match officials, medical workforce and delivering quality competitions. Solomon Islands Rugby seekinng to recruit a dynamic Rugby Development Officer (Provincial) to join our team and drive Rugby Development Pathways to the provinces. These pathways focus on age appropriate development, and physical preparation age grades to support talent identication for players and coaches.

About the role
The Rugy Development Officer plays a vital role in enhancing the profiling of Rugby Development within the Solomon Islands fostering inclusivity, and encouraging participation. By delivering development programs, building innovative and provinces ties. Contribute growth and sustainability of rugby development. The Development Officer will be responsible for delivering rugby development to the provinces in accordance to the Solomon Islands strategic plan. It is essential for ensuring that rugby remains accessible and enjoyble for everyone helping to develop the next generation of player, ensuring empowering rugby values within.

Reporting to the CEO, the Key Accountabilities of the Development Officer (Provincial) Position Include,

  • Design and delivers a sustainable of rugby participation pathways development programs. Work in colloaration with schools, girls, womens, clubs to participants in all development strategies
  • Provide Coach, Match Officials, Training & Education support focusing on coach, player on skill development fostering a passion for the game. This includes planning, delivering, reporting and reviewing rugby sessions to different age groups.
  • Building relationship with unions provincial schools, clubs, womens rugby to promote and increase participation growth. Includes assisting union provincials organising rugby events, competitions and outreach development programs
  • Responsible for maintaining records (data), reporting on player development transition, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This may also be invloved risk management assessments and safegurding practice in the outer provinces
  • Work closely with Union Presidents and Executives to support the overall development of rugby within the union provinces.
  • Proficiency in microsoft office and basis data management
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekends.

Coaching Qualification and Skills

  • High school or Tertiary Education level qualification is often desirable but not always mandatory. Can be fields related Sports Management, Physical Education or similar area.
  • A World Rugby level 2 coaching or equivalent experience is usual required. Certification demonstrates the candidates ability to coach effectively.
  • Strong team player are essential for engaging with diverse groups and building effective relationship with the member unions
  • A genuine enthusiam for rugby and commitment to promote rugby values.
