We are currently hiring an experience Accountant, based in Solomon Island, who can help our team in end-to-end financial accounting for grants and management reporting

You are ideal for this role if:

  • You hold tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance. A certification is advantageous but not required.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in a not-for-profit environment or international development space.
  • You have experience in managing donor projects (GIZ experience is desirable)
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of accounting processes and techniques, with experience using systems like MYOB.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, with a strong understanding of reconciliation.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A DAILY BASIS:

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end financial accounting for our grants and government funding activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial management and reporting. Your key responsibilities will include:

End-to-End Financial Accounting for Grants:

  • Create and deliver financial reports for the project and the management.
  • Support in maintaining accounting systems, process journals, generate variance reports, complete reconciliations, manage project fixed assets, and prepare project P&L statements and balance sheets.
  • Ensure all project expenditure documentation meets donor compliance standards, identifying and resolving any gaps or issues in a timely manner.

Flow Forecasting and Budget Preparation:

  • Prepare accurate project budgets and advice project team in spending rate and variances.
  • Ensuring budgets are alignment with financial goals and donor requirements.

Project Budget Analysis and Reporting:

  • Provide detailed analysis of project budgets.
  • Generate periodic and ad-hoc reports, offering financial and non-financial insights to project managers, senior management, and donors.

Audit Management and Coordination:

  • Manage both internal and external audits.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and coordination with different partners and consultants meet the audit requirements.

Compliance and Policy Development:

  • Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements.
  • Support in the regular review and update organizational policies and procedures to drive efficiency and enhance financial processes.
