As the organisation enters an important phase of transformation, growth, and capital investment, we are inviting exceptional leaders to apply for the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The Role
The CEO is responsible for the professional, effective, and efficient management of Solomon Water, ensuring improved level of services, growing operational capabilities, and leading the organisation in alignment with the Solomon Islands Water Act (1993).
You will partner closely with the Board of Directors, government ministries, development partners, multilateral donors, and internal teams to drive strategic development, governance excellence, operational improvements, and major capital programs.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Executive Leadership
- Set and execute a clear strategic direction aligned to the Solomon Islands Water Act (1993) and national priorities.
- Lead organisational transformation to improve performance, capability, accountability, and service outcomes.
- Translate long term vision into actionable plans that deliver measurable results.
Operational & Service Excellence
- Drive improvement in operational efficiency, asset performance, service reliability, and customer outcomes.
- Ensure safe, compliant, and resilient water and wastewater services across urban and provincial systems.
- Strengthen asset management frameworks and operational discipline.
Capital Delivery & Financial Sustainability
- Lead delivery of the Development Plan and multilateral donor funded capital programs.
- Ensure prudent financial management, long term sustainability, and effective investment planning.
- Maintain strong governance, transparency, and performance reporting.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Uphold high standards of corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Provide high quality advice and reporting to the Board of Directors.
- Embed a strong safety, integrity, and performance culture across the organisation.
Stakeholder & Partnership Leadership
- Build trusted relationships with Government, development partners, donors, regulators, and communities.
- Act as a credible and respected representative of Solomon Water nationally and internationally.
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy, clarity, and confidence.
People & Culture
- Build, mentor and lead a high performing executive and management team.
- Foster a values based culture aligned with the Solomon Water Way—safety, accountability, and service excellence.
- Strengthen talent development, succession planning, and workforce capability.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources / Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related qualifications.
- Postgraduate qualification in Management, Business, or Leadership.
- Membership in recognised professional societies.
- Minimum of 20 years of professional experience, preferably at least 10 years on managing and operationalising water and waste water treatment facilities or related utility sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in water and sewage treatment systems, including planning, operations, and management.
- At least 5 years in a senior executive role reporting to a Board of Directors.
- Demonstrated capability in strategy, governance, operations, financial sustainability, and customer service.
Desirable
- Proven experience at a senior managerial level in developing countries, preferably Pacific Island nations.
- Proven delivery of donor funded programs (ADB, World Bank, Australian Government).
- Strong knowledge of donor procurement, reporting, and compliance frameworks.
- Professional membership in a management or company directors' organisation.
